Here's another 5 lb. largemouth from the Florida Everglades system. We've seen a big improvement over the last couple weeks in the fishing and the weather. Cold night time temperatures have impacted the peacock bass fishing and largemouth fishing in all of South Florida. We had multiple fish kills of peacock bass, cichlids, snook and tarpon everywhere. But the Miami area and the canals of Ft. Lauderdale are fine and still producing quite well.

Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

South Florida Everglades largemouth bass fishing has been nothing short of outstanding for numbers. Each trip will usually boat you about 75 to 100 largemouth bass. Most of these are on the small size with the occassional big female. Cold water fluctuations have caused the bigger fish to be alittle skittish but that should change any day now. Despite the minor fish kill in South Florida lately on some different cichlid species the peacock bass seemed to have faired o'kay. On Thurday January 28, Marcia and George Darnell from Coral Gables landed about 26 peacock bass and a few small largemouth up to 4 lbs. all on shiners. I'm quite sure the spring spawn will produce well this year and I would book early if you're interested in catching the part of the season. Peacock bass fishing in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale will be getting red hot now that the water has heated up. It's been cold over night that last few weeks so the peacocks have been somewhat slow. After that last week of hot weather we should start to experience great fishing for these great fish. Peacock bass need water thats hot to thrive and spawn. Below sixty degrees and peacock will die off. That's the main and only reason South Florida sustains a population of this specie other than Hawaii. The Everglades largemouth bass fishing is heating up lately with big numbers of fish being caught with a a large fish once in awhile. On Saturday we were out at Sawgrass Park and boated well over 100 bass but mostly all were small. The last few weeks of largemouth bass fishing in South Florida has been good considering the cooler weather we've been having. On Tuesday Dec. 9, we were fishing alligator alley and boated about 70 bass mostly on the small side but definately fun. Each time out we've been able to catch fish upwards of 5 lbs. though. Every fish we caught happened to be on plastic worms and homemade worms that I mold. As the water continues to drop along with these cooler water temperatures should drive bass towards spawning. The fun of fishing South Florida is coming early this year and it should be fantastic starting any day now. South Florida Peacock Bass

Bass fishing and Peacock Bass are hitting pretty well considering the cooler weather we've been having at night. Water levels will be dropping in the Everglades and the Miami canals creating good opportunities for both species. On Tuesday we had Heather & Tim Gray in Miami in the C-100 and the couple landed 7 nice fish up to 4 lbs. all on shiners. As the winter progresses these bigger male peacock bass will start to prepare for the spawn soon. As long as the water remains warm the season should be fantastic. Jim Boone from Birmingham, Alabama and I were out peacock bass fishing on Friday. This time of year peacock bass fishing can be good or bad but lately is been great. Water levels and temperatures can be tricky because peacock bass love hot water. It really depends on how hot the South Florida weather is. Today we just had a cold front come through dropping the nighttime temperatures into the low 50's. It usually only takes a few days for these fish to start biting again. Mr. Boone landed 13 peacock bass in a half-day trip up to 4 3/4 lbs. all on live bait. South Florida Bass Fishing 11-12-08

The Everglades of the Ft. Lauderdale area are starting to produce some good largemouth bass fishing. Today Capt. Victor and I were out for about four hours and boated about 20 small largemouth with one nice 5 lb. bass. The South Florida's Everglades are quite high after almost record summer rains but should start dropping quickly now that the rainy season is over. This nice bass was caught on a worm deep off the drop off ledge. Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida is picking up and should stay good now that the rainy season is ending. On Saturday we had a guide trip in the C-100 canal of south Miami and landed 12 nice fish with two over 4 lbs. Water levels are dropping and cleaning up meaning fishing will continue to improve. Lake Okeechobee water levels are up which will help make for a great winter bass fishing season on the lake. The Everglades bass fishing is still tough in certain areas and better in others. Experimenting by trying different conservation areas will help you locate the best spots. While out peacock bass fishing in a canal of South Florida on Wednesday a young man pulled up along side us to ask if we had a scale to weigh this beautiful largemouth bass that weighed in at over 10 lbs. He also only had a camera phone with low resolution so we were able to get a few great pictures for his trophy big Bass. These canals of South Florida around the Miami & Ft. South Florida Peacock Bass 7-24-08

It continues to be awesome fishing for peacock bass in South Florida this week. We were out twice on Tuesday and Thursday. Ed Cohn and I were in South Miami for a half-day fishing before thunderstorms chased us off the water, but before heading home Ed had boated 12 peacock bass up to 4 1/4 lbs. for his first time ever peacock fishing. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing 7-22-08

Miami is still quite good now for Peacock Bass fishing even though it is incredibly hot and rainy. We were out today in the C-100 canal in a suburb of Miami called Pinecrest. Luis and I fished until 2:30 in the afternoon before the thunderstorms chased us off the water. We boated 22 butterfly peacock basas up to 6 lbs. with live bait and artificial lures. Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida remains awesome with this beautiful 7 1/4 lb. caught by Paul Goubert and his father Dave from Davie, Florida. The guys landed 15 peacocks for a half-day trip in Miami yesterday despite threatening weather. Paul's 7 1/4 lber. is a new record for us as a guide service for peacock bass. South Florida Peacock Bass 7-1-08

It's still good fishing for South Florida Peacock Bass in Miami this week. Today Dan Paszynski and I were out in Miami and boated 26 peacocks with nice 5 1/2 lb. trophy that Dan caught. He also boated two more over 4 lbs. to make this an awesome day indeed! Dan caught all his fish on shiners while I used jigs. It's raining heavily now almost daily which good hinder fishing if they continue to pump the canals to much. But for now book a trip to Ft. South Florida Bass Fishing 6-9-08

Jim Kientzy and his brother-in-law Dwayne were out on Monday in the South Florida Everglades bass fishing with us. The guys landed 45 largemouth bass up to 3 lbs. That's small for this time of year but the rain has finally come and has slowed the bass fishing down somewhat now. Each year the process repeats itself like clock work. On Friday night June 13th a night tournament out of Holiday Park was won with only 22 pounds, we usually can catch that in the daytime! After that weight the bags went way down which is quite unusual for night fishing for bass in the South Florida Everglades. South Florida Peacock Bass

Lowell and I tried snapper creek canal system today which connects tothe C-4 Miami airport system. It's also loaded with great fishing for both peacock bass & largemouth bass, snook and tarpon. Over two days of peacock bass fishing Mr. Shapley had a blast landing 57 peacocks himself with me only 10? He is a taxidermist mostly mounting birds but I think he's considering other ideas now after his trophy 5 lber he caught the day before! Here's a great picture of a double hook up we had yesterday. South Florida Bass Fishing Report 5-13-08

Today we were out in the South Florida Everglades bass fishing. Yesterday a mild spring cold front came in with high winds which is causing many wild fires through out Florida. But today the wind was low and no clouds either to put a chop on the water which made fishing slightly tougher. We still managed to land 33 bass up to 4 pounds. The bait of choice is still plastic style lures. We can't tell anybody exactly what we are using because of a certain guide service who likes to copy everything we do! We've changed the look of the web blog home page to not be copied again. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing Reports 5-2-08

Today and all week Miami for Peacock Bass has been good. Scott Jungmichael and his friend Chris from Texas had the best peacock bass fishing in there life. Scott landed his trophy at 5 lbs. and Chris boated big daddy at 6 lbs. Nice fish guys and tomorrow it's off to the South Florida Everglades for this great largemouth bass fishery where we've been catching so many I'm getting worn out!

South Florida Bass Fishing 4-30-08

South Florida bass fishing in the Everglades is just great right now and getting better daily. Today the Spegiel's for Tennessee had the bass fishing day of their lives! Hugh caught his biggest ever at 6 lbs. and his wife did quite well herself. We boated about 90 bass which I may have been off by a few, maybe a few short actually. I think we had at least 5 or 6 at 3 to 4 lbs. also and a few bigger ones to boot that got away! Fishing to some guide services is slow right now so choose your guides wisely.
