Peacock Bass fishing South Florida

The peacock bass fishing lately has been good in Miami considering we did have a slight fish kill over the winter. I'm seeing plenty of small peacock fry everywhere which means great fishing days to come soon. Over the last couple weeks we've had a few trip with approximately 15 to 20 fish cuaght each time out.

Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing Guide

Lake Okeechobee is still producing some nice largemouth bass despite this unbearable heat we're having. Out on Monday this week we boated about 12 bass up to 5 lbs. on rattletraps and senko's in the Clewiston area of the lake. As the water and heat dissipate the fishing will become red hot this fall and winter.

South Florida Bass Fishing the Everglades

Robin Sullivan and his wife Jan were out last week from Alabama and caught about 75 largemouth bass in the everglades. It was hot and little wind for the first half of the day but as the day wore on the wind picked up and so did the fishing. Robin caught a couple nice fish with this nice 5 lb. fish and missed a monster that broke his line. What a day and a great sunburn they received but were quite pleased with the awesome day of fishing we experienced.

Tim Gray and his parents were out for alittle mothers day surprise for Tim's mom. We boated about 50 largemouth bass but most were on the better size range with this nice 6 lber. Tim boated. We caught mostly everything on Senko's and big worms down deep. The fishing is good now and will get better if this rain holds off.

Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

Here's another great South Florida Everglades largemouth bass caught in April on alligator alley. This beauty weighed in at 8 lbs. Each trip out we're catching between fifty and hundred bass up to about 6 lbs. It really depends on the wind and clouds to how well the fish bite. The slower days will be without any wind at all and you'll jsut have to work alittle harder to catch them.

South Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

Here's another 5 lb. largemouth from the Florida Everglades system. We've seen a big improvement over the last couple weeks in the fishing and the weather. Cold night time temperatures have impacted the peacock bass fishing and largemouth fishing in all of South Florida. We had multiple fish kills of peacock bass, cichlids, snook and tarpon everywhere. But the Miami area and the canals of Ft. Lauderdale are fine and still producing quite well.

Everglades Largemouth Bass Fishing

We've gone out quite a bit lately and have had a blast catching a few hundred bass. Each trip should yield upwards of 100 largemouth. The South Florida canal system is teeming with bass and peacock bass. Now that summer is about here for us we can expect these numbers to get bigger along with the size of the bass. Everytime out we are now catching bass over 5 lbs. and this means the best bass fishery in America for numbers is on! All our fish have been caught on plastic artificials not live bait like other guide services are using.

Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

South Florida Everglades bass fishing is getting better daily as water levels will drop and warm up over the next few weeks. We've fished at least a half dozen times over the last couple weeks and have caught outstanding numbers and size bass up to 7 lbs. Each week will improve and the larger females will be done spawning and ready to eat anything that swims by. This is the time we all wait for in South Florida because the Florida Everglades in my opinion is the best bass fishery in the United States for numbers by far. Peacock Bass fishing is still o'kay south of Ft. Lauderdale if you know how to catch them. Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

South Florida Everglades largemouth bass fishing has been nothing short of outstanding for numbers. Each trip will usually boat you about 75 to 100 largemouth bass. Most of these are on the small size with the occassional big female. Cold water fluctuations have caused the bigger fish to be alittle skittish but that should change any day now. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

We been out only three times over the last two months fishing for bass and peacocks but have done quite well. In early November I had John White and Russ Erickson from Iowa. The guys landed over 40 peacock bass all on shiners from Miami's great fishery for these species. Within the first ten minutes of fishing John boated this great 7 lb. monster. This is a true butterfly peacock bass trophy fish. South Florida Everglades Bass Fishing

It's been hot but far out on alligator alley of the South Florida Everglades you can still catch some largemouth bass if you can handle the heat. We fished for about five hours last week and landed about twelve largemouth up to 5 lbs. I had to work for them but patience paid off with this nice beauty. South Florida is usually difficult for catching any substantial size or quantity of fish this time of year because of high and hot water with low in oxygen. We've had rain but the water management has been able to keep water levels consistant which helps bass fishing. If you're planning a bass or peacock bass fishing trip to South Florida now's the time because it should only get better if we don't experince any major tropical weather systems. Our winter pattern usually begins in November.

Peacock bass fishing in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale will be getting red hot now that the water has heated up. It's been cold over night that last few weeks so the peacocks have been somewhat slow. After that last week of hot weather we should start to experience great fishing for these great fish. Peacock bass need water thats hot to thrive and spawn. Below sixty degrees and peacock will die off. That's the main and only reason South Florida sustains a population of this specie other than Hawaii. The Everglades largemouth bass fishing is heating up lately with big numbers of fish being caught with a a large fish once in awhile. On Saturday we were out at Sawgrass Park and boated well over 100 bass but mostly all were small. The last few weeks of largemouth bass fishing in South Florida has been good considering the cooler weather we've been having. On Tuesday Dec. 9, we were fishing alligator alley and boated about 70 bass mostly on the small side but definately fun. Each time out we've been able to catch fish upwards of 5 lbs. though. Every fish we caught happened to be on plastic worms and homemade worms that I mold. As the water continues to drop along with these cooler water temperatures should drive bass towards spawning. South Florida Peacock Bass

Bass fishing and Peacock Bass are hitting pretty well considering the cooler weather we've been having at night. Water levels will be dropping in the Everglades and the Miami canals creating good opportunities for both species. On Tuesday we had Heather & Tim Gray in Miami in the C-100 and the couple landed 7 nice fish up to 4 lbs. all on shiners. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing

Jim Boone from Birmingham, Alabama and I were out peacock bass fishing on Friday. This time of year peacock bass fishing can be good or bad but lately is been great. Water levels and temperatures can be tricky because peacock bass love hot water. It really depends on how hot the South Florida weather is. Today we just had a cold front come through dropping the nighttime temperatures into the low 50's. It usually only takes a few days for these fish to start biting again. Mr. Boone landed 13 peacock bass in a half-day trip up to 4 3/4 lbs. all on live bait. South Florida Bass Fishing 11-12-08

The Everglades of the Ft. Lauderdale area are starting to produce some good largemouth bass fishing. Today Capt. Victor and I were out for about four hours and boated about 20 small largemouth with one nice 5 lb. bass. The South Florida's Everglades are quite high after almost record summer rains but should start dropping quickly now that the rainy season is over. This nice bass was caught on a worm deep off the drop off ledge. South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing 11-2-08

Peacock bass fishing this week in South Florida has been good considering the colder weather we've had. On Wednesday night it dropped down into the low 50's which peacock bass don't like. Water temperatures below 60 degrees will kill peacocks. Carl Gaudins and I were out on Saturday and we boated 7 peacock bass up to 4 lbs. We noticed a couple big male fish courting females, which is unusual at this time of the year. South Florida Peacock Bass 10-25-08

Peacock Bass fishing in South Florida is picking up and should stay good now that the rainy season is ending. On Saturday we had a guide trip in the C-100 canal of south Miami and landed 12 nice fish with two over 4 lbs. Water levels are dropping and cleaning up meaning fishing will continue to improve. Lake Okeechobee water levels are up which will help make for a great winter bass fishing season on the lake. The Everglades bass fishing is still tough in certain areas and better in others. Experimenting by trying different conservation areas will help you locate the best spots.
